Sonny Nwachukwu – Circles
Circles is a ‘choreopoem’, a live dance and spoken word performance, that explores the subconsciousness of relationships, drawing on black culture.
For this R&D project, a team of two artists, a co-choreographer, dramaturge and Sonny Nwachukwu, the project’s writer and director collaborate to create a choreopoem.
Circles delves into an astral projection reality where the characters take on forms of past present and future lives. Through open conversations between the characters touching on subjects such as Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, community and love, Circles brings an intimate yet urgent reminder about unhealed pain and asks the important questions about identity and healing.
