John Finn – Finn’s Fish Tank

Finn’s Fish Tank is a R&D project about haptic art involving a human-sized fish tank where you can see and feel richly illustrated fish that react when touched.

Finn is profoundly Deaf. Finn was also born with a degenerative eye condition, becoming blind after pioneering the use of motion capture technology to animate British Sign Language. Working with Ultrahaptics and staff from the Disruptive Media Learning Lab at Coventry University, Finn now wants to use his skills to be a pioneer in haptic art and explore the question of whether “beauty is in the hand of the beholder?”.
