Unlimited Commission Opportunities

Unlimited is a commissions programme, delivered by Shape Arts and Artsadmin, funded by Arts Council England with additional funding from Arts Council Wales, British Council and Spirit of 2012. We are looking to support commissions for disabled artists and companies that support disabled-led work across all art forms. We are looking for quality, innovation and ambition across everything we commission.

Key dates:

  • Application portal opens: 3 October 2016
  • Deadline for expressions of interest: 12 midday, 7 November 2016

There are three strands of Unlimited commissions for this round:

  • Main: commissions (more information in Word format here) (more information in PDF format here) & Research and Development (R&D) awards (more information in Word format here) (more information in PDF format here)
  • International: International collaborative commissions (more information in Word format here) (more information in PDF format here)
  • Emerging: commissions for young and/or emerging artists to make work or run participatory projects (more information in Word format here) (more information in PDF format here)

Each commission strand is funded differently – and so is open to artists and companies based in different parts of the UK.

If you are based in England, you can apply to all strands and programmes:

  • Main: commissions & Research and Development (R&D) awards
  • International: International collaborative commissions
  • Emerging: commissions for young and/or emerging artists to make work or run participatory projects

Arts Council England also offers a range of funding streams, including Grants for the Arts and Strategic Touring, as well as other sources of funding – all of which are open to disabled artists and companies.

If you are based in Wales, you can apply to:

  • Main: Research and Development (R&D) awards
  • International: International collaborative commissions
  • Emerging: commissions for young and/or emerging artists to make work or run participatory projects

Disabled artists based in Wales can apply to Arts Council of Wales for other funding streams – all of which are open to disabled artists and companies.

If you are based in Scotland and Northern Ireland, you can apply to:

  • Emerging: commissions for young and/or emerging artists to make work or run participatory projects

Disabled artists based in Scotland can apply to Creative Scotland through their Open Programme and other funding streams and disabled artists based in Northern Ireland can apply though their funding streams – all of these are open to disabled artists and companies.

If you are based outside the UK:

  • You cannot apply to Unlimited as a lead artist or company – you must apply as a collaborator with an artist or company based in England or Wales who is applying for an International collaborative commission.
